NATURE-BASED SOLUTIONS
Our Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) are designed to work with nature, harnessing its inherent capabilities to address environmental challenges, combat climate change, and support biodiversity and community resilience. We focus on a variety of impactful projects, including Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR), mangrove and peatland conservation, and Improved Forest Management (IFM), among others. Through NBS, we aim to restore and protect natural ecosystems, while also providing socio-economic benefits to communities, contributing to sustainable development goals.
Afforestation, Reforestation, & Revegetation (ARR)
Our ARR projects aim to increase forest cover by planting trees on previously barren or degraded land (Afforestation), replenishing forest areas that have been lost (Reforestation), and restoring vegetation cover to support ecosystem resilience (Revegetation).
Project Impact: These efforts significantly enhance carbon sequestration, restore habitats for wildlife, improve soil health and water quality, and support local economies through sustainable forestry practices and ecotourism.
Mangrove & Peatland Conservation
Mangroves and peatlands are among the most effective ecosystems for storing carbon—far exceeding the capacity of tropical forests. Our conservation projects focus on protecting these vital areas from degradation and deforestation.
Project Impact:
-
Mangroves: Act as crucial buffers against storm surges and coastal erosion, support rich marine biodiversity, and provide critical livelihoods for coastal communities.
-
Peatlands: Despite covering only a small fraction of the global land surface, peatlands hold almost one-third of the world’s soil carbon, making their conservation essential for climate change mitigation.
Improved Forest Management (IFM)
IFM projects involve the adoption of management practices that maintain or increase the forest carbon stock, while ensuring the forest's sustainability and productivity. These practices can include longer rotation periods, selective logging to reduce impact, and the protection of forest areas from fire and pests.
Project Impact: IFM projects not only secure the carbon stored in forests but also enhance biodiversity, protect watersheds, and provide sustainable timber and non-timber resources, supporting the economy and biodiversity.
